Nepal’s national bird is a pheasant native to Himalayan forests and shrub lands at elevations of 2,100–4,500 m.
The male, with his iridescent plumage of nine colours must surely be one of our most beautiful birds. It was one of the first species recorded for science in Nepal, in 1793.
If you’re planning to visit Nepal, be sure to carry your cameras along because you never know when you could catch a glimpse of this exotic bird of the Himalayas.
